Final Kitchen Photos!

I am SO excited to be writing this post. It means that we are DONE. Completely done with our spur-of-the-moment, middle-of-summer, crazy kitchen remodel!

Here are a few more work in process photos:

 Half of the tile being laid. Thanks Mike for coming to help, and Terri for hanging out! We did come up with something to write on the ugly original tile now hidden behind the microwave:

 Closeup of my favorite part- the backsplash! I loved every minute of installing it and I love looking at it every day. I used a tile saw by myeslf during installation. Pretty proud of that.

 Since we had to remove everything and wipe down the inside of the cabinets, I took the liberty of reorganizing the pantry. On the Left is Before, and on the Right is After:

 
 Notice the lovely square storage containers for flour/sugars, as well as pastas and tea.

And finally, here are pictures of the completed project. Looking in from the living room. You can't tell, but we extended the bar out about 4 inches to hold more food during parties.

 I love the new sink and faucet. I also love that we were able to make the edges of the backsplash tile line up with the cabinets everywhere- instead of having random areas that were tiled past the cabinets, where others lined up. It's all square and perfect.

 The beautiful new glass-top range. So far it cooks a lot faster than the old one and looks so much prettier.

 This area is mostly the same- but we got rid of the ugly wooden junk holder and got Brooklyn her own trashcan/food holder that matches our fancy new trashcan.

 Entryway is the same except for the lovely tile with nice thin grout lines, non slippery finish, and color that looks good with everything.

 Here are the new doorknobs we added after the freak oil splashes. The doors are also freshly painted.

 The floor tile looks good with everything exept the walls in the powder bath. But it was a 7-step custom process and I love it so I'll ignore the color discrepancy. The theme of the project in this room was 'Don't mess up the walls! They're priceless!'

 First dinner cooked on the new stove- Bean's favorite: couscous!

I also made oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, steel cut oats for breakfast, and brewed green tea with my teapot. And it's all cleaned up- no dirty dishes in the nice new sink!

Total cost was about $4500- mainly because of all the labor we did ourselves. The only thing we didn't do was install the countertops. We saved at least $800 by doing the floors ourselves and several hundred by ripping out the countertops and appliances. Painting the cabinets is a whole other story! I'm so glad we have the drive to do the work ourselves and the skills to do it well.

More than that, I'm so glad to be done!
