Question: If the bagger at the grocery store puts your loose veggies in plastic bags without your consent, does that void your use of re-useable bags?
So far this month I succeeded in not using any plastic bags at the grocery store. The first 2 times I went to shop, I forgot my canvas bags, causing me to carry multiple items wedged in my arms. The checkers looked at me like I was crazy when I told them I 'didn't need a bag'. Then they asked how I was going to carry it all. I told them it was my new year's resolution to not use plastic bags, and they still thought I was crazy. The next time I remembered to bring the bags, and it was much easier!
Another part of my resolutions for this year is to take care of my health, and do things I enjoy on my day off. I'm pleased to say of the 2 Fridays I had off this month, I went to yoga and had Jamba Juice on both of them, followed by a trip to Hobby Lobby! I've also done pilates and zumba a couple of times each. I'm really looking to repeat my routine this Friday. I've also started work on a couple of craft projects which I'll share here when I'm done. Having that day to myself really is wonderful- all of the above, plus watch Lifetime movies and do crafts- can't get much better than that.
As far as the learning to say no objective, I'm about to get a big practice test in the next couple of weeks. After my Sales Meeting (partying and very little sleep 3 straight days) and a bachelorette party (same thing) in one week, tomorrow I'm going to start a vegan cleanse for 2 weeks. Focus on veggies, fruits, nuts, vitamins, lots and lots of lemon water, and skip the alcohol, meat, fish, bread, sugar- the hardest one!, and dairy. So we went to the store and stocked up fruit and veggies and 10 lemons.
Before I knew what was happening the helpful bagger put my lemons in a plastic bag, and did the same with 3 pears I had! I thought it was obvious that since I didn't put them in plastic baggies myself, that I didn't want to use them. Especially when I brought my own bags.
Wish me luck as in the next 2 weeks, there's Valentine's Day (no champagne) and a bachelorette party that starts on the 12th day. I'm sure I can make it that long, but my goal is at least 13 days- can't miss out on the winery sampling!
Something I need to work on is the cleaning thing. We made a few strides by investing in a 4-compartment sorted laundry hamper, which I labelled with the different loads we use. The goal is to do a load when a compartment fills up, so we are not bogged down with doing a ton of laundry all at once. Problem is, we ran out of detergent and have forgotten to pick some up twice now, so we have 3 loads to do now! I'm seriously considering paying someone to deep clean the house one time, and then we can work on maintaining it.
On top of all that, I will have a very exciting financial announcement in a couple of weeks!
How are you doing on your resolutions so far? It seems easier to break it up and look at it month-by-month, don't you think?
