Instead of doing a long post about all of the details from 2012; here are my top 6 favorite moments, in no particular order:
- Driving through Austin at night blasting "Call me Maybe" and singing at the top of my lungs with Liz, Jess, and Rach. We spent the weekend there for the 5th anniversary of Donna's death. We ate at her favorite places, went by her old dorm, had mimosas, and of course felt like the oldest people on 6th street. Whenever I hear that (slightly annoying) song I think of them and that weekend.
-The 2am, half-asleep decision to go ahead and take the pregnancy test, convinced it was going to say 'sorry charlie'. Instead it changed our whole world! Bean likes to mention how I tapped his face with the (covered) pee stick.
-Driving through the woods with Aunt Judy on a mule at our family reunion. She was mostly quiet, but the few comments she made were hilarious. Then later, she had to read out all kinds of inappropriate words during a game of Loaded Questions which was probably the funniest thing that happened all year.
-At 5am, Brooklyn jumped on the back door to be let inside after her solo expedition for the previous 2 nights. I can't describe how relieved I felt that she came home and was not hurt. It was a good lesson to learn for a soon-to-be mom.
-The reactions from Mom, Terri,Whit, Britt, Lauren, Rach, Evie, and Sherri when we announced the pregnancy. From soft and serious to shreiking excitement to tears and smiles to complete shock, they were all my favorite.
-The entire trip to Peru. It was the best trip we've ever taken. I can't pick one moment from the trip, but feeling the energy from that large stone, the dream I had the first night of the hike, and the peacefulness of the mountains made it a spiritual (as well as physical) journey for me.
And just because I can, I have a seventh favorite moment:
-When Bean felt his baby move for the first time. And really any other time it's moved because it's just the craziest feeling ever. And maybe the time we got to see the baby's spine and brain on the ultrasound.
All of these moments are ones I will look back on and remember exactly how I felt at the time. I don't think 2013 can get any better than 2012 but I can't wait to see what it has in store: babies galore and a really fun wedding for starters...
