The preferred method is: home alone, whatever music I choose, and unlimited time to work on it until I just can't anymore with no interruptions. This is simply not possible anymore, but I will settle for just having a few hours here and there to work on it. My big fall project is painting a hallway.
It doesn't sound like much, but it includes priming and painting all of the trim, door frames (7 of them), the crown moulding, 4 doors, plus the ceiling and walls. Trust me, by the time I get to the walls I will really appreciate being done with this project! For now though, I'm basking in the glow of an unfinished project that I get to complete!
Here are the Before pictures that I remembered to take! Give me about 3 months and I'll have an update. haha
The view looking out of Abby's room. The hallway is L-shaped and her room sits at the crook of the L. That door is a cedar closet where we keep our linens. There are door frames leading to the entryway, the study, and the kitchen, plus a random door frame with no door that you see right in front of you.
These two are starting at the cedar closet looking at Abby's room...
Then coming around the bend... Does anyone know how difficult it is to photograph a narrow L-shaped hallway? Especially hard trying to get the ceilings in so that you'll be able to see the difference when there is no more yellow crown, dingy doors, white ceilings, and yellow walls.
This mirror has been resting in our hallway since we finished our Master Bedroom update over 6 months ago. It's super heavy so we've been procrastinating on moving it.
And finally the view from inside our Master. I can't wait to have this ugly hallway updated. We had foundation work done so there are cracks in the tile, which just means that we get to pick something new in a couple of years that will go along with our style much better than yellow with copper diamonds!
The light fixtures are also on the list. Bean does not like 'boob' lights. And maybe we will hang up some art on our walls. We had so much put into the art on our walls at the old house, but we have so much wood paneling here that we want to make sure we hang things in the right place. This hallway, on the other hand, we can just go for it!

That is a LOT of trim...let your mind wonder and work things out.
