17 Weeks

Something amazing happened last night as I was laying down for bed. I felt a little thump on the left side of my stomach. I decided to press down several times and received a thump back, right on my fingertip!

At my appointment a few days ago I finally got to hear baby's heartbeat on the Doppler- loud and clear! It was in the 140's. She called it a 'chill baby'. I was walking on sunshine the rest of the day!

Also I found out that the June birthstone is pearl. I don't know how I got so lucky to get a diamond baby and now a pearl but they are the best!

I've been feeling really good this time around. Not sure if it's because the baby is a different gender, but I do think not working a stressful job and having time to rest helps for sure. I'm having a hard time falling asleep and staying that way. No food cravings, nothing really sounds appealing. I'm able to eat healthy foods which is great! Weight gain is around 4-6 lbs so far, less than half what I gained wth Abby and Baby B in the first trimester. Not being able to eat sugar really helped this time.

Starting to get some hip and lower back aches but I'm about to start a chiropractor/massage routine so that should help. My midwife says I should be walking 45 minutes 5x a week. I need to work up to that in addition to yoga once a week. I started back at the same studio I went to with my pregnancy/post partum and it feels great.

I think I've been able to keep my emotions in check better this time (you'll have to ask Bean to be sure), but keeping a connection with my opinionated girl and all of the negotiations that go with it can be frustrating when I just want to take a nap. I love that she is so strong and I want her to stay that way, but sometimes I just need a break.

I've been feeling so great I really made a dent in my 2016 To-Do list this week. Today is my girl's first visit to the dentist! I also have everything ready to renew my passport with a name change (just need to get a new picture)- this involved a last minute drive to another town for a certified copy of our marriage license! We both have eye doctor appointments set up next week at a new optometrist, and the paperwork completed for Bean's new IRA. I'm also halfway through getting paperwork together to get my car registration up to date. All of that is about 1/3 of my list! Cheers to being a responsible adult in 2016!
