Finally: Greetings from our Castle!

We now have internet, so while Bean is watching the ridiculously long premiere of Heros, I can stay up here in the office on the computer. Plus I don't have to go to the library to check my email anymore!

We've really been working hard on the house. It was frustrating at first because once the popcorn was down and the new texture was up, we just wanted it all to be done. But it really takes awhile to prime the new textured areas, wait for it to dry, then paint with one color, switch and paint with another color, cut in, tape off, put down paper, take it up again, prime the trim, re-tape, paint the trim, and repeat. It felt like we were working in circles the past week. But now it's all coming together. We have the ceiling and walls in the master done, all of the trim is primed, and half of it is painted. All that's left is the remaining trim and a few touch-ups. We've also installed a cool new ceiling fan and new a/c vents.

We also have the ceiling and walls in the laundry room and kitchen done, and the new lights installed. As soon as it's dry, we can move our washer/dryer and fridge into their spots. It will feel so great to have the kitchen cleaned up since it's been the main area for storing whatever tools we're using at the moment. And I can't wait to start my wifely duties in cooking again. By tomorrow we should be ready to go. But of course then we get to move on to the master bath and dining room.

Speaking of bath, we've been using the upstairs bathroom since the master is really dusty and not finished, but we don't have our shower curtain unpacked yet. So we've discovered a new method for showering: aim the showerhead directly at the wall. Splash yourself with water (but not too much that you get it on the floor), lather up, and try to rinse off while continuing to avoid getting water on the floor. It's a really interesting experience. You should try it.
