Sunday Blues

I have just started to come down with symptoms of pre-Monday depression. I used to not get it because I always had Monday off, so Sunday nights were always fun and relaxing and I could stay up as late as I wanted....like until 10pm or so. Now I know that when my alarm goes off at 5:15 tomorrow, I actually have to get up and go to work.

This weekend was so much fun, I wish it weren't coming to an end. We worked hard last week and finished the guest room and bathroom, which is officially the coolest bathroom in the house, because we did venetian plaster and it looks awesome. This weekend we finished the study walls and trim, so all we have left is the loft walls and trim and hanging the blinds that we just ordered for the guest room and study as soon as they come in.

Our only deadline is the first weekend in January, when we plan to host an open house. Bean doesn't understand the concept but it's just an excuse to throw a party. I want to have 3 stations spread throughout the house: one with fun cocktails, one with cheese/crackers/snacks, and one with lots of different types of cookies.

Mike and Terri came to town for Thanksgiving and we ate at Silver Fox, one of their favorite restaurants and the food was excellent. We were not very good hosts because we didn't have anything fun to do except watch Gary Unmarried and Dirty Jobs on tv.

Friday morning we got up and drove to Bogata to visit with family and got to hang out with baby Emma again. Then we went over to Pop/Granny Margaret's house for some leftovers and after everyone else left we sat and talked with them for an hour and a half! We talked about the election a little bit (Granny Margaret is a big time Democrat), about them building their house, about Pop being a hard worker, about a drugstore Granny Margaret used to work for and the guy who owned it offering to pay for her college if she didn't marry Pop, and that they've almost been married for 57 years.

At the mall on Saturday (we went to hang out and then get dinner and a movie), we talked about the fact that Bean has such good role models for a lasting marriage- his grandparents at 57 years and his parents at around 32 years. I don't know of anyone in my family that has been married that long. Sometimes I watch to see if either of the two couples does something cute so I can tell Bean about it later. One time I saw his parents holding hands in the car, and this weekend I saw Granny Margaret sitting on Pop's lap for a few minutes. I just hope that we can hang in there and still be happy after all that time.
