We are officially done painting, as of approximately 10am!
The least fun thing we did is the stripe of red crackle in the office. It was a pain to get it laid out straight and looking good, it was messy to apply, and it left a ton of touch-ups to do. But it looks awesome now that it's done. I'm still not sure I like the color of the loft- a pumpkin color, but hopefully when we get some stuff hanging on the walls and some furniture in the area it will mellow out like the guest room did. I'm just afraid we are that family that has way too many colors in their house, where every room is different and none of it goes together.
Eh, I'll just do whatever I want and won't worry about what anyone else thinks of what we've done. Though of course I'm interested in what people think, but I'm sure they won't tell me they think it's ugly to my face, so it doesn't really matter.
Eucie will be included on our Christmas card this year. Bean is not excited. But I think it's pretty funny. I posed her with some beads from our tree so she's very festive. I wanted to write a holiday letter too, but Bean thought it was corny. It would have read something like this:
"We were lucky this year to purchase our second home in Lewisville. It looks like a castle and we spent the last quarter of the year painting it from head to toe. [Then I would list every thing we did in every room, possibly including pictures] We are also blessed to have our cat-daughter Eucie with us who is a joy every day....[Then I'd talk about our trip to New York and fulfilling an item on each of our bucket lists]. Eucie's new trick is to climb up on top of the fridge, then on the top of the cabinets, where she rolls around and gets all dusty, and the excess dust sometimes falls down into the food we are happily cooking for dinner. Bean legally adopted Eucie and we had a committment ceremony in our living room..."
I'm working on my sarcasm, which is something that always confused me about Bean. I could never figure out when he was serious or 'joking', but now that I've mostly got it down, I've tried to use his brand of humor. Mostly nobody gets it.
