Dusty Work Zone

After the first weekend ripping up tile, the dust took over our home. If I had planned better, we would have put up this plastic before work started. I would have cooked a lasagna or something so we could eat leftovers off of paper plates instead of fast food every night. I would have covered our belongings instead of letting the dust fly and settle over everything. Literally everything.
I can only write about this now because we have cleaned 80% of it and made more progress than when these were taken. Bean did so much hard work and piled the tile up in different areas. He started with a hand chisel. Recommended by the guys at Home Depot.

Are they crazy?! A hand chisel to remove about 250 square feet of tile?! After about a half day of that, Bean rented a mini jack-hammer and made some real progress. He got up all of the tile in about 4 hours, and got to work grinding down the thin-set after that.

I was excited to start using a crow bar and hammer to remove the backsplash. I ended up taking down most of it myself and really had fun with it.

Hello, old striped wallpaper! Nice to see you again.
Here are a few more construction photos:

That is Bean grinding down the thin-set in the pantry. I can't even describe the dust, although it's visible in the picture. The grinder is incredibly loud. I think the animals are traumatized.
