This being our first Christmas with a child, we are feeling like we need to start setting traditions. My friend Maggie and her family are really good about sticking with family activities and spending time together through the holidays. They planned to take a ride on the North Pole Express in Grapevine this year and invited us along. Abigail loves anything to do with being around people so I knew she would love it.
Waiting to get on the train!
All aboard!
She loved the elves that danced through the aisles and sang songs to her. Kids are encouraged to wear their PJ's since the experience is based off the book "Polar Express". We were looking forward to her first meeting with Santa at the end.
She also loved trying to grab Landree's nose.
And here's a progression of us trying to get a family picture. Notice how I'm always looking right where I'm supposed to. haha!
And notice the distracting little elf in the corner of this one!
The train ride fell right in the middle of lunchtime, so we let little lady eat on the train.
She also loved the silver bell they gave her. If you can hear the ringing, that means you believe in Santa!
The elves led us in singing Christmas songs, told us a story, and then sang Happy Birthday to anyone who requested it.
When we arrived, we were at the North Pole! They had snow and everything. It was made of soap.
We went inside and watched a musical program about the North Pole and getting ready for Christmas. Bean, Maggie, and I had a blast trying to figure out if this one elf was a girl or a boy. We were all rooting for a very exuberant boy (I mean, this kid was 100x more animated than any of the other elves), and then she started singing. Her huge plaid shirt was extra funny since she was so skinny. Abigail loved kicking her legs and waving her arms to the music.
We went to get in line for Santa, but by this time little lady had been awake for almost 4 hours and we knew she would not last through the long line. So we helped her stand up by herself in front of this gingerbread cookie instead.
It was a fun experience!
