New home means new decor! I'm trying to get better about decorating and making our house feel like a home. I just struggle a lot with clutter- I don't like it, I don't want to dust it, and until now I've never had time to rotate it out with the seasons. My first baby step was the front door wreath(s). I was very proud of the one I made for the old house- the fact that we even had a wreath was a huge accomplishment!
That one is now our 'Summer' wreath. I have made a 'Fall' wreath that's hanging on the door now, and I have the supplies for our 'Winter' wreath sitting on my table waiting to be made into something awesome. I know I'm behind, but I'm working on it! My life goal is to have a home that changes a little bit all the time but always feels familiar.
I left out our usual pictures but added a few things to the bookcases on either side of the mantle.
For example, these burlap ribbons with clips to hold the cards we got. I love seeing everyone's holiday cards!
We still have not come up with a piece of artwork to hang above the fireplace, so I was able to fill it up with holiday decor. I love World Market for stuff like this and we got most of the newer stuff there. I love the lanterns hanging from the ceiling!
There are candles all over this display but you can't tell at all! Bummer. Another genius thing in this house is the hooks hidden under the bottom edge of the mantle. I LOVE this detail!
I'm sad to see the decorations put away, but I guess that means I need to get serious about finding some art for that spot!
