Quick project: Bookshelves

We are hosting a party this weekend for 40 people, and we know 8 of them. It made me look at my house in a new light. Things that I don't pay attention to, I'm noticing and fixing, like finally washing our (temporary) living room curtains that my daughter smeared chocolate on the first time I let her have chocolate- at least 6 months ago!

And these bookshelves in our dining room. We just threw everything up there, knowing we would be painting, and purging extras, and decorating at some point. I didn't want to waste time on it before we did it 'for real'. I realized I should take a picture about a third of the way into this, so it doesn't look as bad as it has since we moved in (over a year ago!)

I spent about 2 hours moving shelves and arranging. I didn't throw anything away, other than actual trash, and I moved a couple of things that don't really belong on a bookshelf. Although I did leave a couple of things that don't belong: the cricut, for one.

I added a couple of pictures that didn't make it into our hallway, and displayed our wedding album for the first time ever!

Some of Abby's books came out of her bedroom- I had two empty shelves and nothing to put there, so I pulled out the annoying or active (not bedtime friendly) books and put them here.

I'm not sure why, but I slept really well last night. Maybe it was the workout we did, or maybe it was because an area that I studiously avoid looking at every day is now something I don't want to avoid. Time to go have breakfast and gaze at them!

This message is a "pat on the back" from me. Pantry containers and bookshelf projects turned out great. Glad you slept well!
