BBB2: Week 8

4/10/14

Dear Numero Dos:

The grandparents announcement went as smoothly as we could have hoped! Your dad came in with a t-shirt for your sister hidden under his shirt, picked up Abby and took her into her room to get her changed. The shirt said "Only Child - Expiring - November 2014"

Meanwhile, I got everyone around the table and started serving up salads and spaghetti. When they came in the room, everyone was saying, what's she wearing? What does that say? But your Dad was holding her so her stomach was facing his. Then he started to put her in her high chair, and it was confusing all around until he said, "We're using our daughter as a prop". Grandmommy popped your mama on the shoulder and said, "I knew you were up to something!" and finally everyone understood.

It was a mixture of confusion, shock, and I think a little excitement. I was really sad not to be able to drink the wine Grandma Connie brought. Later that night we told your Uncle Ben and tried to tell your Uncle James. Don't worry, as of today they all know about you!

The next day was your sister's first birthday party. It was so busy, and easy to keep the secret with so many people around. We did sneak out as your great grandparents were leaving and let them in on the secret. It was a very big deal that they drove all the way out for Abby's party.

A couple of times some strange things came up: your cousin Colby straight out asked me when we were going to have another. When I said I didn't know, he pressed to try and get more information, so I told him we planned to try when your sister was one, but since we were finishing up the bedroom and bathroom remodel I wasn't sure. Lying through my teeth!

Then later our friends were talking about the number of kids they planned to have, and we were joking about your dad and I having 4. One of our friends said, "Well, if you are going to have 4, you'd have to be pregnant RIGHT NOW!" I can't wait to hear her reaction when she finds out I really was!

Yesterday was my first dinner at Mex-i-go that I had to pass on a margarita. It made me a little sad, but I'd rather be pregnant with you than getting drunk on margaritas anyway. We enjoyed some pink lemonade instead! And that must have been you wanting tamales because I usually order brisket tacos.

I'm so thankful that I'm feeling well this time around! I went back and re-read blog posts about this time with the last pregnancy and I can't imagine being back in that place again. I must have some good people looking out for me, and it's helping me look after myself. The only symptom is random backaches in the mornings, I get cold after eating and at night, and I get hungry for dinner at about 5:30 everyday. Slightly puffy belly area, and my skin isn't looking so great, but other than that, I just want to take more naps. It's all good in the hood!
