The house we would love to buy! All we need now is someone to buy our house.
The one we're interested in is located in Valley Ranch (Irving). The neighborhood is so cute: little cul-de-sacs with 4 houses on each. It's a corner lot, about 1500 square feet and two stories. The backyard is 90% deck, 10% stone pebbles, and the HOA takes care of mowing the front lawn. What more could two anti-landscaping people ask for? As you walk in the front door, the first thing you notice is the massive wall covered in soft-white painted paneling surrounding a brick fireplace on the right, and the new hardwood floors, of course. To the left are the stairs which lead up to a landing that we'll make into our study, and two bedrooms at the other end. There's a dining room and a TINY kitchen next to an octagon-shaped breakfast nook, half-bath, and sunroom. Basically, it's great.
My only issue is of course the kitchen. The appliances are all new (with a flat-top range!) and black, which matches our refrigerator. The cabinets can be painted- we're thinking a medium gray- and we want to rip out the wall between the kitchen/dining room and extend the countertop out and add barstools for seating. It will vastly open up the space, but we don't know if that wall is load-bearing and if we can move the location of the fridge yet.
Of course this is all we talked about the rest of the weekend. I'm making it a goal to be moved or moving at the beginning of May. We also had 2 showings this weekend at our house and haven't heard back yet. Our Realtor says we shouldn't get comfortable, and that she thinks our house will sell fairly quickly. It only takes one!
