Nottoway Plantation and Cajun Village

Midmorning on Friday, we arrived in Baton Rouge after a quick 50-minute flight. Our first stop was Nottoway Plantation with the family. I did a terrible job taking pictures, didn't get any inside the house. I was too excited over the architecture, then completely white formal ballroom, the sliding window that lets you out onto the balcony, and all the mouldings that I forgot to take pictures of all of it.

Here's a side view from the side that the cemetery is on. This house is 150 years old, and got shot with a cannon during the Civil War. The grounds were beautiful with tons of huge trees. The curtains were 'puddled' at the floors to prove that the owners could afford to buy extra fabric. The beds looked extra short because people in those days were closer to 5' tall- who knew that the averages back then and now are so different?

Sherri and Terri being silly with the statue in front of the gift shop. His abs are rock hard!
After we finished the tour, we went to the Cajun Village, which is basically several old buildings that people set up shop in. There was a home decor shop, a candle shop with a rude owner, a miscellaneous shop with lots of fun stuff, and a wine shop owned by the same rude candle shop owner.

There was also a creepy alligator-head man with a guitar.

And a Gatorville house that Clinton and Kayla like to sit in.

"Wait! Hold my hand!"
Much better.... And Bean seems to be getting comfortable pushing a stroller, and holding babies, and avoiding baby talk.
Actually, he's pretty good at avoiding baby talk anyway. He's better at telling when Emma's diaper needs changing than I am (I can't smell it for some reason) and he's better at getting her to flirt.
For dinner we went to a pizza place that was delicious and cheap! $5 for a small and $9-10 for a large that was twice the size of the small. Beer was cheap too. I failed miserably at taking pictures of that since I got none. I was so worn out at the end of the day that I fell asleep on the floor at the house and Bean took the couch.
