IKEA...our favorite store

Bean and I had a mini-date night last night at IKEA. That means that we actually ate food at the restaurant/cafeteria there. I had a delicious greek salad and he had chicken strips/fries that tasted just like the cafeteria food from High School. Delicious!

(I am not ashamed to admit that I loved the cafeteria food in school. My favorite was the chicken chunks, mashed potatoes, green beans or peas, a roll, and two chocolate milks, followed by a chocolate chip cookie as big as my face. I also loved the food we got at Kindercare- the beef ravioli was my favorite, and it is the same ravioli they made at the cafeteria at my dorm at UNT. Yum!)

Everytime we go to IKEA, we walk the entire 'path' through the store and talk about the different rooms, even though last night we went specifically to purchase 4 additional chairs for the new table we have arriving today. We discovered that we have the same taste in kitchen cabinets- both style and color. I admitted that if I was single, living in a loft downtown, there is a particular bedroom I'd have (and it was pink and purple and awesome). Bean admitted that if he was single, he would be in Aubrey still with absolutely no decor. I found the Christmas gift for baby James- I can't say what it is, although the only two friends with babies will know.

We found chairs, after much debate- Bean hates the ones I bought for my first apartment- he thinks they are ugly and I bought them because they were the cheapest ones. I wanted all different styles of chairs, stained to match the table, but the only pine chairs they had are the ones we already have and one other style. So we set out to get 4 more of the 'other' style. On the way, we picked up a cute glass serving bowl, some steak knives, and two dish towels for 49 cents each. Bean was pushing for some throw pillows for the couch but was denied.

When we got to the self-serve section, they didn't have any of the chair we wanted in pine, only in a black stain/paint. So here's the dilemma: to stain the black chairs, we have to sand them down (NOT happening); we can paint the black chairs and the pine ones but what color? I hate when people want to match a stained piece (like our table) and paint something to look similar. But that's the only option I see. Or we could leave the black chairs and paint the pine ones to match them- is it gross to have a dark brown stained wood table and black chairs?

My goal for today is to figure it out and carry out whatever plan I come up with. Also, I'm cleaning the house for our guests this weekend, and later we're having another mini-date night at Costco!
