Welcome to our home!

I'm so happy to finally be posting pictures of our (finished) house! Here's the view that we first saw on the website when we wanted to buy it. We think it looks like a castle on the outside because it sits on a hill on a corner lot. This is my favorite part. We painted the front door this gorgeous gray/brown color and replaced the ugly brass door handle with this awesome hammered metal one.

This is the view as you walk in the front door. It's a two-story entry and living room. To the right are the stairs, which lead up to a loft.

A view of the stairs. You can see through the spindles to where the kitchen is located.A main view of the kitchen. No more striped wallpaper! This area used to have a desk that looked like it was built in at first, but we realized that it was added on later and it looked pretty unfinished, so we tore it out! It went from the cabinets to the wall and we are glad to have it gone.Another view of the kitchen. The door next to the fridge is the pantry and there's another door that you can't see that leads to the:
Laundry room! It's really not that exciting, but since we redid the entire thing, it deserves a picture.
Here's a view of the living room from the stairs. We just got the couch from IKEA and it's so comfortable! We also put in some hard work to get that TV over the mantle, and you can hardly see where we hid the cords, unless you look for them!

Here's the dining room, with the chandelier that I love and the fabric panels I saw in New Orleans and wanted to copy. I tried really hard to match the paint color on the walls to the fabric, and although they are still slightly different, I think it turned out pretty well.

Here's a view from the living room looking at the dining room (it's an open floor plan) into our master bedroom.

Speaking of, here's our master bedroom, including some of the cityscapes we hung on the wall.

And another view of the bed in front of our 3 large windows. They are gorgeous! We chose roman shades on the windows for their simplicity and so that we didn't have to put up curtains.

This is what you see from the foot of the bed; it leads into the master bathroom.

No more ugly wallpaper, only purple and gold. I wanted to use purple because I feel like it's a newer color that not many people use. It really does have a lot of gray in it though. I did the stencil in gold to help tie in the gold fixtures. When we remodel the bathroom, we will paint the walls as well and this will be gone.

A view of the vanity.

And our walk-in closet that is stuffed with clothes!
Now upstairs to the loft, which is the best-looking paint job (as far as the detail work) we've done. Probably because it's the last one we did. I still don't know how I feel about the Pumpkin color, but we're leaving it for now because we need a break!

Here's the guest room, which you can see from the photo above as well. We're doing a cluster of cool pictures of our grandparents above the bed, but all we have is one right now. I'm hoping to have a nice, large collection soon.

And this is our favorite room in the house- the guest bath. We did venetian plaster on the walls, and the type we used has a wax that goes over it with a metallic powder mixed in. I based the room around the wallpaper samples hanging on the walls (you can see them in the mirror). I also love the shelf and baskets we put in.

Across the loft is the rustic office. The red stripe is crackled and lets the wall color come through. It looks great, but it was a lot of work!

Here's the computer desk. My favorite feature of this room (besides the stripe) is the step leading down into the room.

The closet from the office, where we tried to make it more interesting by hanging art.

And Eucie's room, this strange little space they added on off of the closet. I was going to make it a little library, but ended up installing her litterbox which has a wire running through the wall into the attic where it's plugged in.

We had a small Open House last night and I was suprised when Brittney and Sam showed up! They were on their way back to Lubbock from Houston and still had a 5-hour drive ahead of them, but I was so glad they were able to stop by!

I'm so relived and feel really lucky to be able to enjoy this beautiful house that we worked so hard on. We decided that now instead of working on the house, we are going to work on ourselves by getting into shape!
