The Epic Search for the Puppy

It's been much easier to continue the Epic Search for the Puppy since the last let down. Since Sunday, I have visited the Richardson Animal Shelter (nothing there), Arlington Animal Services (yes, we drove all the way down there to see a dog from Petfinder- of course it was already adopted), Rowlett Animal Shelter (absolutely nothing), and the Garland Animal Shelter. There is a cute one there but it won't be evaluated for adoption until tomorrow, so I can check back then. I even let Bean go into a Petland.

That place made me sick. They keep the puppies in enclosures that have wire on the bottom so that when they relieve themselves in their cages, it falls through to the tray underneath. They sit on the wire, they walk on the wire, and they poop through the wire. They only have puppies, obviously to appeal to the kids that come in, and they have just about every breed you could think of, even a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. They had two English Bulldogs.

I just think that it is wrong to buy a dog from a place like that. Puppy mills use cages like that, and you can almost guarantee that the dogs in that pet shop came from a puppy mill. I begged Bean to get us out of that place and we proceeded to have a debate over buying a puppy from a place like that.

If you buy one from there, you are supporting a puppy mill and allowing that industry to continue. If nobody bought animals from pet shops, they would go out of business and puppy mills would have nowhere to sell their 'goods'.

Bean thinks you are rescuing that dog.

Yes, you are saving one dog, but at what cost? I know I'm right, now I just have to convince my husband to see it my way. We will get our puppy from a shelter. This is what Eucie thinks about that:

m l; . b;bp l
0xo--pc[xpxcpx[opzx[c0o[p[-[-pkl

hahaha! (She really did type that and I really did hold her arms over the keyboard and bounce her up and down on the keys)

Last night we bought food and water bowls to match Eucie's, a collar and leash, some bully sticks, and a bed. Now we just need our puppy to use them!
