My first National Sales Meeting

I got back yesterday from my first sales meeting. I reached my goal of going to the meeting this year; when I made the goal I was an assistant manager, and to go to the meeting you have to be a manager. So I got the promotion, and I got to go to the meeting. Here are some highlights:

-My roommate was from Hawaii and looked like Giada from the Food Network.
-I met a lot of managers I didn't know from DFW, and caught up with my old asst. mgr from when I was part time. I really missed working with him!
-I woke up at 6am on most days, after I stayed up until between 12:30am and 4am.
-There are a LOT of people that work for Sherwin Williams. We filled up 3/4 of the Dallas Convention Center for our opening meeting.
-I'm proud to be one of 6 female store managers out of 58 stores in DFW.
-We decided that sometimes your nail and toe polish colors should match.
-City Managers are really funny after they've been drinking for a couple of hours. They are actually normal.
-As a woman, if you want to stand out more than normal, make sure to wear a tight sweaterdress and knee-high boots everyday. You will certainly catch everyone's attention, especially if you probably shouldn't wear clothes that tight.
-The restaurant at the top of the ball in downtown Dallas is really beautiful and expensive. How about a $12 martini? How about only if the guys will buy one for us girls?
-We got a free lunch when we decided to skip the gross stuff they provided and pay for our own. Our City Managers were at the next table and took care of our check. How nice!
-Some guys don't know when to stop drinking and it's kinda funny to watch them wrestle each other, fall over, and talk really loudly.
-One way to stay awake in a boring meeting is to laugh at the guy across the aisle who is falling asleep and trying not to fall out of his chair.
-I was able to partake in the tradition of taking a limo out on the last night (the dressy night), with a huge group, and going to a place that usually only guys go to together.
-We went to a bar with the craziest loud music and an emo guy who played a harp and some other person that played a violin. And we paid 5 bucks to get in!
-There are some REALLY corny ideas they come up with to get us pumped up to sell paint. Like a complete sports/boxing theme complete with a skit with costumes and props.
-Employees of SW really like to drink. A lot.
-I will be on that stage next year accepting an award for either Leaders Club (2.5% over budget), Masters Club (7.5% over budget), or President's club (15% over budget, $1 million minimum).

My real goal is Masters Club. But it might be hard with the economy. I'm also planning to win our district's contest for the best looking store (either that or 'most improved'). Wish me luck!

Also, I will start my medicine for my thyroid thing sometime this weekend. And will wait to hear back on the results of my ultrasound on my neck...they were looking for something called a goiter, which sounds nasty. Here's hoping the medicine helps me feel better. :)
