Sunday

Sundays are no longer sacred. The only thing different from a regular day is that the Wolf plays Texas Country on my drive home from work. It's very relaxing.

It used to be that Sunday meant sleeping in until at least 8 or 9am, then cooking breakfast like pancakes or waffles with Bean and hanging out until I had to drag myself away to go to work for 4 hours. Then sometimes going to an early dinner with coworkers since we were all working together. Our favorites were On The Border and IHOP.

Then it changed to sleeping in a little bit- having maybe an extra 30 minutes to watch TV in the morning, but still getting off early enough to get the grocery shopping done, plus a full night's relaxation.

Now I wake up exhausted on Monday morning after working an 8-hour day on Sunday. I just have to question the direction our society is going in that my boss' boss' boss' boss thinks the hours we are open are holding us back from competing with Home Depot and Lowes. There's a rumor we will extend our summer hours to be open until 8pm during the week. I don't even want to talk about that.

When did Sunday become just another full day's work?
